Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary of UNITA in the province of Huambo, Apolo Felino Yakuvela, defended this Thursday the need to value merit and citizenship, to achieve political, economic, social and cultural goals. <\/b><\/p>\n

The politician, who was speaking during the III ordinary meeting of the Executive of the UNITA Provincial Committee in Huambo, said that Angolans need to increasingly see each other as brothers and compatriots, valuing their cadres for excellence and not for party militancy.<\/p>\n

He considered it important for citizens to respect diversity of opinion, as stipulated by law, for the consolidation and promotion of the national reconciliation process, contributing, unanimously, to common well-being.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that, given the current crisis situation in the country, everyone is called to contribute to achieving the objectives recommended and enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola.<\/p>\n

Apolo Felino Yakuvela said the population is going through difficult times, resulting from the global economic crisis, where, in recent years, many expectations have been increasingly frustrated.<\/p>\n

To this end, he asked the Angolan Executive to pay more attention to the health situation, mainly in preventive health, acquisition of ambulances, medicines and expendable materials, equipping of posts and maternal centers, to achieve the goals established by the World Health Organization ( WHO).<\/p>\n

He said that Education, as an essential sector for human training, also needs special care, as in case of failure, it will compromise future generations, with the consequences of delaying the country’s development.<\/p>\n

According to the politician, this situation can be resolved, among others, with more investments in the construction of high-tech and efficient school and hospital infrastructures, in addition to technical-professional training duly updated with the country’s social reality.<\/p>\n

He also called for the implementation of objective and inclusive policies in the productive sector, above all, in maximizing and promoting the agricultural sector, leveraging both extractive and manufacturing industries to quickly boost the national economy.<\/p>\n

UNITA, the largest opposition party in Angola, obtained a total of 2,756,786 votes in the last general elections on August 24, 2022 and won 90 deputies in the Angolan Parliament.<\/p>\n
