Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola’s ambassador to the United States of America, Agostinho Van-Du\u0301nem, said this Thursday, in Washington DC, that President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o’s visit will help attract more American investors to Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, regarding the working meeting between the Angolan Head of State and his North American counterpart, Joe Biden, in the Oval Office of the White House, he said it was a unique opportunity to consolidate bilateral relations .<\/p>\n

According to the diplomat, the North American Administration has a “positive perception” of the reforms implemented in Angola, so, in his opinion, this meeting will help to boost the strategic partnership, especially in the field of defense and security.<\/p>\n

According to Agostinho Van-Du\u0301nem , the White House appreciates, in particular, the reforms that the country has been making in the field of legislation for granting land for agriculture.<\/p>\n

It is for this reason, he argued, that there is beginning to be an increase in interest from North American businesspeople, highlighting that a visit to Angola, in February 2024, by investors from this country is on the cards, to assess the real investment possibilities.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the fact that the USA gives different importance to the issue of cooperation with Angola in the trade sector, highlighting that, for the first time, that country appointed a commercial attache\u0301 for Angola.<\/p>\n

“We are on the right track in relation to reforms, which will make it possible to attract more businesspeople to Angola”, he said, having highlighted that Joe Biden has encouraged his country’s public and private business sector to invest in Angola.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he said, North American financial institutions have been providing conditions so that their businesspeople can invest in the country.<\/p>\n

According to the ambassador, some Angolan products have already started to arrive in the USA, under the scope of AGOA, mainly wood and food consumption, such as fish.<\/p>\n

The meeting between Joe Biden and Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o will essentially address issues related to bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, climate and energy, in addition to US investments in Africa.<\/p>\n

One of the central themes of the meeting, which takes place as part of the celebrations of 30 years of diplomatic relations, will be the implementation of President Biden’s Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) project in the Lobito Corridor, Benguela province.<\/p>\n
