Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The rehabilitation works on Estrada Nacional 105, on the Hui\u0301la\/Benguela route, begin in the first half of December, one month after President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o authorized, in an order, the expenses for this purpose.<\/b><\/p>\n

The works cover, in total, the Benguela\/Catengue\/Chongoro\u0301i (Benguela) and Quilengues\/Matala diversion (Hui\u0301la) sections, covering a length of 303 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made Friday, in Lubango by the head of the provincial services of the National Institute of Roads of Angola (INEA), Jose\u0301 Augusto Vieira, stating that the intervention envisages the total rehabilitation of the road, which in the province of Hui\u0301la will affect the Matala bypass to the bridge over the Cutembo river, on the border with Benguela.<\/p>\n

The highlight, according to the source, goes to the widening of areas where there are small bridges, which in the 2005 rehabilitation were not included, causing certain bottlenecks.<\/p>\n

The execution of the rehabilitation works of the section in question is valued at more than 339 million US dollars, and its inspection will cost 7.2 billion kwanzas.<\/p>\n

This is a fundamental section of road due to its geographical location and the role it plays in connecting two large population centers in the Southern Region of the country, namely the capital of the province of Benguela and Hui\u0301la, as well as the connection between the interior and the south coast.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned section has for some time now been in a state of \u201cdeep degradation\u201d over part of its length, with a lack of longitudinal and transversal drainage means, which in itself accelerate the destruction of the pavement, jeopardizing the road safety of one of the busiest roads in the country.<\/p>\n
