Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The multi-bank network in the municipality of Cacuaco, 15 kilometers north of the city of Luanda, increased to 111 machines in the month of October, in a universe of more than one million inhabitants, according to the report from the Interbank Service Company (EMIS).<\/b><\/p>\n

In the survey for this period (October), EMIS, the company responsible for managing the national multi-box network, reports an increase of 14 new machines in the last 12 months, as a result of the restart of some devices.<\/p>\n

Despite the evolution, the limitations on access to an ATM in the municipality of Cacuaco are significant, especially at the time of salary processing, where there are long queues to access the service.<\/p>\n

As one user reported, the reduced number of ATMs does not cover the number of users, which creates long queues and several hours are wasted on site.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very stressful to use these boxes, especially at the end of each month. In addition to the queues, the constant loss of signal worsens the situation, which can last for several hours. It would be good for the management of bank branches to study the situation and implement more tellers in various parts of Cacuaco\u201d, said the interlocutor.<\/p>\n

EMIS attributes this constraint to the fact that the multi-box network has a \u201cvery asymmetrical\u201d geographic distribution, which disadvantages populations on the outskirts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also according to EMIS, the asymmetry in the geographic distribution of the ATM (multicaixa) network is a consequence of the fact that it developed attached to the bank branch network.<\/p>\n

Therefore, EMIS data indicates that the percentage of ATM offpermises (outside branches) has been growing, but represents only 15% of the total number of machines installed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as the development of the ATM network is dependent on the expansion of branches, the asymmetry will continue to remain, because the development of branches is naturally slow and depends on the attractiveness of the banking business, in each municipality or even region\u201d, assesses the EMIS report.<\/p>\n

From a broader perspective, the municipality of Luanda has the largest number of ATMs with one thousand and six teller machines, followed by Belas with 494, Viana with 282, Cazenga with 114, Icolo and Bengo with 15 and Quic\u0327ama with just three. according to EMIS data.<\/p>\n

Located north of the city center of Luanda, the municipality of Cacuaco is 571 square kilometers long, bordered to the south by the municipality of Viana, to the east by the municipality of Icolo and Bengo, to the north by the Bengo River and to the west by the Ocean Atlantic.<\/p>\n
