Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The municipal administrator of Cuanhama, Cunene province, Jose\u0301 Kalomo, defended this Saturday, in Ondjiva, the need to strengthen actions aimed at recovering the cultural values \u200b\u200bof the people of the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the 1st Cuanhama cultural colloquium, under the theme \u201cCultural heritage as an inexhaustible source of people’s wealth\u201d, the person responsible defended the need for greater research into the communities’ oral tradition, with a view to preserving history and culture.<\/p>\n

He argued that cultural heritage appears to be one of the important elements that adds to the identity of a people.<\/p>\n

According to the administrator, with the era of globalization and cultural diversification, today there are cultural changes and adaptations, often contrary to habits and customs.<\/p>\n

Along these lines, he said that the objective of the colloquium is to openly debate solutions that protect the dignity of the human person.<\/p>\n

For his part, the King of Oukwanhama, Jero\u0301nimo Haleinge, praised the promotion of the event that aims to preserve the habits and customs of the people of this region.<\/p>\n

He said that culture as a link of people’s identity needs to be recovered, a fact that demonstrated the ready collaboration of traditional power authorities in transmitting values \u200b\u200blost over time.<\/p>\n

Jero\u0301nimo Haleinge also said that culture is not just about drumming and dancing, but about habits and customs, religion, thought, clothing, gastronomy, rituals, among others.<\/p>\n

The sovereign recalled that as a result of the occupation of African territories, many cultural values \u200b\u200bwere destroyed and denied.<\/p>\n

Lasting one day, the event debates topics about the identity of people and brings together academics, historians, religious leaders, traditional power authorities, members of civil society, among others.<\/p>\n
