Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Army commander, General Joa\u0303o Kiteculo, reaffirmed this Monday, in Luanda, the commitment of this branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in defending the integrity of the national territory, as well as supporting the country’s development.<\/b><\/p>\n

The senior officer was speaking at the opening of the days commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the Army, to be celebrated on the 17th of this month, having highlighted the continuous reinforcement of the personnel’s contribution to the nation’s major tasks, especially in the defense of terrestrial space, democratic institutions , among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must continue to fulfill our obligation, which is, above all, the defense of the homeland, respect for the Constitution of the Republic, preservation of peace, national unity and all the achievements achieved with the sacrifice of the children of Angola\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

He called for the total and unconditional dedication of personnel to work aimed at combating any unseemly practices, likely to tarnish the image of the corporation, and made it known that a process of restructuring, modernization and resizing is taking place within the Army to make it equal to the challenges and correspond to the aims of maintaining national defense.<\/p>\n

The commander expressed the willingness of this branch of the FAA to cooperate with the National Police in combating violent crime, illegal immigration, transnational crimes, internal and external threats, as well as in preventing and safeguarding the safety of the population.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Joa\u0303o Kiteculo referred to the various conflicts that exist in the world, adding that it is a situation that requires prudence and reflection.<\/p>\n

He also spoke of the need to transmit, within the workforce, positive messages regarding the capacity of the Angolan Executive to promote the well-being of citizens.<\/p>\n

Created on December 17, 1991, this branch of the Armed Forces holds meetings under the motto \u201cArmy, 32 years in the defense of national terrestrial space.<\/p>\n

As part of the event, political-military, cultural, sporting and recreational activities, lectures, conferences, as well as bonfires of combatants are expected to take place.<\/p>\n
