Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The national director of human rights, Yanik Bernardo, defended this Wednesday, in Luanda, the need to institutionalize a procedure for reporting and following up cases of violations of these rights, at the level of the country’s regions.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, who was speaking at the closing of the Forum of Local Human Rights Committees, there is a set of complaints, depending on the specificity of each province and locality, which require mapping and presentation of solutions on the issues by the local committees. .<\/p>\n

According to Yanik Bernardo, continuous work must be done to educate communities towards a culture of human rights, due to the considerable lack of knowledge of the main standards relating to this matter.<\/p>\n

He said that one of the greatest challenges is achieving “national majority” in human rights, which, he said, involves strengthening the complaints system.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the official defended the integration of civil society at the level of local human rights committees.<\/p>\n

As for the forum, he highlighted that it was the culmination of provincial conferences held throughout the country, which served to reflect on the role of committees in relation to human rights issues.<\/p>\n

Held over two days, in the country’s capital, the meeting analyzed, among others, the level of implementation of the National Strategy on Human Rights, bringing together 18 justice and human rights delegates and members of civil society.<\/p>\n
