Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The work carried out by the Ombudsman offices of the countries of the Portuguese Language Community (CPLP) was recognized, this Tuesday, during the International Conference \u201c75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

The country was represented by the Ombudsman, Florbela Arau\u0301jo, also president of the CPLP Ombudsman Network, and the national director of human rights, Yanick Bernardo.<\/p>\n

Entitled \u201cInternational Conference 75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Visions for CPLP\u201d, the conference took place in a hybrid virtual and in-person format, integrating two panels and a round table, with approaches aimed at cooperation and the future of human rights.<\/p>\n

In his intervention, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Tu\u0308rk, stated that \u201call good governance must place human rights at the center\u201d, ensuring that the UN has been \u201ccombating injustices around the world\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to a note from the ombudsman’s office, the person responsible said that the current challenges require proactive human rights.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted that youth, worldwide, are the segment that has faced the most challenges in terms of injustice and deprivation of such rights, and pointed to linguistic diversity as a \u201ccornerstone for human rights\u201d.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Portugal, Ana Mendes, who opened the meeting, congratulated the work of the CPLP ombudsmen, having stated that the Portuguese Government recognizes the cooperation with this institution as \u201cpositive\u201d. network.<\/p>\n

According to the document, the governor believes that the CPLP Ombudsman Network is closer to reaching a top position \u201calongside the Global Alliance\u201d, with type A status, increasingly making the \u201cvoice of the community\u201d and not sporadically.<\/p>\n

Ana Mendes, underlines the note, considered the conference as \u201canother step on the ladder of CPLP\u2019s affirmation\u201d at a global level.<\/p>\n
