Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, highlighted this Friday, in Luanda, the efforts of the Executive, in the continuous consolidation of the exercise of the right to freedom of expression, freedom of the press and access to information. <\/b><\/p>\n

Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, who spoke on behalf of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, at the human rights conference, in reference to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the motto \u201cDignity, freedom and justice for all\u201d, stressed that despite the advances achieved in recent years, many challenges still remain in terms of social, economic and cultural rights.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that these challenges are combined with the need to promote greater literacy on Human Rights standards and related legislation, greater access to information and justice, gender equality, continuous training of members of Local Human Rights Committees and promotion of the culture of peace, strengthening democracy and citizenship.<\/p>\n

He defended the continued commitment to the Justice and Law Reform Program, as well as the strengthening of good governance and the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

Esperanc\u0327a da Costa said that one of the Executive’s commitments consists of strengthening dialogue with civil society, translated into the personal involvement of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, within the framework of more participatory and inclusive governance, highlighting the Reconciliation Plan in Memory of the Victims of Political Conflicts.<\/p>\n

He stated that the meetings with the various sectors of civil society, with emphasis on youth and religious institutions, traditional authorities and the business class, show the Executive’s commitment.<\/p>\n

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, whose 75th anniversary will be celebrated on December 10th, is a guarantee of indivisibility, universality and inalienability as characterizing elements of Human Rights.<\/p>\n

At this Conference, under the motto Dignity, freedom and justice for all, we are all called to reflect on these three theoretical elements chosen for this event, which, in fact, represent some facets of Human Rights.<\/p>\n
