Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The main products that make up the basic food basket, in the province of Moxico, registered a doubling of prices in the last semester, compared to the same previous period, this Friday, in the different commercial establishments in Luena.<\/b><\/p>\n

During a round carried out in the main sales warehouses in the region, in view of the demand for food items to prepare for the Christmas season, it was noted that the 50 kilogram bag of sugar increased, from 31 to 67 thousand kilograms currently.<\/p>\n

The box of food rose to nine thousand kwanzas, against the previous three thousand and 300 kwanzas, with a variation of more than 100 percent.<\/p>\n

The 12-liter box of cooking oil registered an increase of 62 percent, from 16 thousand in the last semester, to 26 thousand kwanzas.<\/p>\n

The 25kg corn meal registered a variation of 27 percent, going from six thousand 950 to nine thousand and 400 kzs.<\/p>\n

A 25 kg bag of rice rose from 12 thousand to 17 thousand and 19 thousand and 500 kzs, varying depending on the brand.<\/p>\n

A box of chicken thighs costs 15,650 kwanzas, compared to 14,000 kwanzas six months ago, with a variation of 11 percent.<\/p>\n

Regarding wheat flour, a product widely consumed at Christmas time, a 25 kilo bag is being sold at 29 thousand and 300 kwanzas, against the previous 19 thousand, while the egg plate rose from two thousand and 400 to three thousand 750 kzs.<\/p>\n

Economist calls for stronger supervision<\/p>\n

In view of the continuous inflation of prices in the market, economist Isidoro Cassemene called for the need for institutions responsible for maintaining price balance and protecting consumer rights (ANIESA and INADE), to redouble supervision, with the aim of guaranteeing the good be with families.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, these institutions are reactive, but they must be proactive, maintain permanent supervision to avoid constant price rises\u201d, he maintained.<\/p>\n
