Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy coordinator of the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) in the province of Cunene, Belarmino Tumbuleni, warned this Friday, economic agents, to refrain from the practice of price speculation, under penalty of being sanctioned.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement, he said that it is common, at this time of year, for certain economic operators to change the prices of goods and services, without complying with legal standards, due to the high demand for food products for the festive season.<\/p>\n

Taking into account that these acts are harmful to the economic interests of consumers, he warned traders to conduct themselves in strict compliance with the rules that govern commercial activity, by establishing price calculation maps.<\/p>\n

Failure to comply with this instrument, he argued, causes the operator to commit the crime of speculation, punishable by the penal code and other sanctions, such as warnings and fines which, according to the legislation, are negotiable at the General Tax Administration (AGT).<\/p>\n

He argued that the cases of speculation have to do with the lack of calculation of the price map, a fact that led to the imposition of 15 fines on economic agents, within the scope of the natal operation.<\/p>\n

Belarmino Tumbuleni recalled that ANIESA is carrying out, from the end of November to January 5, 2024, inspections of all commercial establishments in the six municipalities, aiming to prevent changes in the prices of the main food products.<\/p>\n

He said that the objective is to monitor and find out the origin of the products, given the prices charged in commercial establishments, adulteration of the products and others such as doubtful expiration dates.<\/p>\n

He appealed to consumers to report any anomaly based on the sale of food goods to local inspection departments at municipal level, in order to take action and hold offenders accountable.<\/p>\n

ANIESA was created through Presidential Decree No. 267\/20, of October 16, and is the body responsible for inspecting economic activities.<\/p>\n

ANIESA is made up of inspectors from Commerce, Hospitality, Health, agriculture and other areas who carry out price control and the quality of products on sale.<\/p>\n
