Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, reaffirmed this Saturday, in the province of Cunene, that the party is focused on improving the economic and social conditions of Angolans, aiming for their well-being in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the central event of the celebrations of the 67th anniversary of the founding of the MPLA, to be celebrated on Sunday, 10th, Paulo Pombolo said that the party works to reverse the negative impact on the economy.<\/p>\n

The MPLA, he stated, will not give up the ideas that guided its constitution, always bearing in mind the slogans of the Founder of the Nation, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, according to which the \u201cmost important thing is to solve the people’s problems\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the politician, the party is providing full support to the Executive, in the implementation of the Government program, reaffirming the will to do everything to transform Angola into a prosperous, united and fully developing country.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the Executive led by President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o took appropriate measures to reverse the situation, ensure macroeconomic stability and support the business sector to accelerate the diversification of the economy.<\/p>\n

Paulo Pombolo reported that it was a coincidence that the OGE 2024 proposal provided a greater allocation to the social sector, estimated at 4.9 billion kwanzas, corresponding to 20.1% of total expenditure.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he said that, in order for families to purchase basic goods at lower prices, the National Assembly recently approved a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) from 14 percent to 5%.<\/p>\n

He said that the country has become independent, one, indivisible, at peace and in deep national reconciliation, focused on strengthening the Democratic Rule of Law, to achieve economic and social development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must promote more debates of national interest and of communities in particular, in order to find consensus and better solutions to problems, with positive contributions from different segments of society\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

For this mission, it encouraged greater collective involvement, especially the party’s base organizations located in various locations, in interacting in a more open and communicative way with citizens.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the Cafu canal projects opened in April 2022, benefiting 235 thousand inhabitants, 250 thousand head of cattle and the irrigation of 15 thousand hectares, as well as the Ndue and Calucuve dams, currently underway.<\/p>\n

The politician called attention to the party’s members, friends and supporters to contribute more in the fight for the prevention of public goods made available to communities.<\/p>\n

Paulo Pombolo urged Angolans to actively participate in the country’s development process, with a view to its harmonious growth, always imbued with a spirit of unity, progress and commitment.<\/p>\n

MPLA in Cunene<\/p>\n

For her part, the MPLA’s first secretary in Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, recognized that over the 67 years she has managed to establish herself in every corner of the province and has been joining the party’s noble ideals.<\/p>\n

He explained that it is growing with the inclusion of new young activists who demonstrate patriotism, inspiration in the solid and dynamic organizational structure of a political party committed to development.<\/p>\n

Gerdina Didalelwa highlighted that this central event in the province brings more energy to the activists to continue working and overcome future challenges.<\/p>\n

The central event, which took place in the Naipalala multipurpose pavilion, in Ondjiva, was preceded by the symbolic delivery of agricultural equipment, motorbikes and laptop computers.<\/p>\n

The MPLA was founded on December 10, 1975.<\/p>\n
