Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, highlighted this Sunday, in Luanda, the affirmation of multilateralism as the best option to face the various challenges arising from the current context of international politics. <\/b><\/p>\n

The head of Angolan diplomacy made this statement when speaking at the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the Joint Path, Angola-European Union, having mentioned that the meeting takes place in a context characterized by increasingly complex challenges facing States and their respective institutions.<\/p>\n

Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio stated that this sixth ministerial meeting is the expression of a qualitative leap taken in the relationship between Angola and the EU, demonstrated by the quality of the conversations and above all in the existing harmony.<\/p>\n

During the event, which took place behind closed doors, aspects related to bilateral cooperation and international life were discussed, with emphasis on regional issues regarding the efforts that Angola has made in the region in which it is located in Southern Africa, especially in the search of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR).<\/p>\n

As part of the joint paths between Angola and the EU, a bilateral cooperation agreement was signed for the disbursement of the first fixed installment of 10,000,000 Euros, referring to support for the formalization of the economy, including social protection and support for public finance management.<\/p>\n

The instrument was signed by the Minister of Economy and Planning of Angola, Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o, and the head of the European Union delegation in Angola, Rosa\u0301rio Bento Pais.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the meeting highlighted the threats of terrorism and unconstitutional changes that concern the African continent.<\/p>\n

With regard to Southern Africa, the Angolan side, as president of SADC, expressed concern about the sanctions against Zimbabwe and encouraged continued dialogue towards lifting them.<\/p>\n

Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio highlighted the partnership and the positive steps taken with the signing of the agreement in Samoa, considering it an expression of maturity between the EU and OEACP, the latter of which Angola presides.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we think that, in total, there is room for bilateral and multilateral cooperation through the OEACP and other organizations in which they are part of and that they would like to improve\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

In turn, the EU representative, Joa\u0303o Cravinho, stated that it was a fruitful and very useful meeting for the European Union and Angola, as it served to take stock of what has been extremely fertile cooperation and project actions to the future.<\/p>\n

According to him, some \u201cpioneer developments in the relationship between the two parties\u201d also emerged, such as the Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreement, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Angola, the EU and other partners for the Development of the Lobito, as well as sharing about the international and regional dynamics of the African continent, particularly the situation in the East of the Republic of Congo, the Great Lakes Region, the CAR and the international circumstances resulting from the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.<\/p>\n
