Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The acting director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in Cunene, Ade\u0301rito Armando, defended the need for visual artists to value themselves, through the creation of quality works and promotion of their work.<\/b><\/p>\n

This Wednesday, the person in charge said that the office controls more than 20 artists linked to the branches of painting, sculpture and ceramics in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Namacunde and Ombadja, who have developed excellent work, lacking, however, greater publicity to attract community interest.<\/p>\n

The person responsible highlighted that most artists have a studio at home and carry out commissioned work, which requires greater advertising and marketing to attract potential buyers and allow artists to survive through the work developed.<\/p>\n

Ade\u0301rito Armando said it was necessary for art makers to invest more in exhibitions, to better publicize the pieces, as well as raise awareness among local populations by holding lectures and meetings on the importance of the arts.<\/p>\n

He informed that the office has promoted plastic exhibitions annually, with the aim of showcasing the province’s artistic potential.<\/p>\n

In terms of spaces, he mentioned that the Casa da Cultura has a dome that has served as a workshop for plastic arts makers to exchange experiences, using the market in the Republic of Namibia as a source of acquisition of raw materials.<\/p>\n
