Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, announced in Moc\u0327amedes, that drilling of the first well in Block 30, in the Namibe Basin, will begin in 2024.<\/b><\/p>\n

The government official, who made this announcement at the opening of the workshop on \u201cMineral Resources, Oil and Gas\u201d, highlighted that the completion of the Namibe Basin will be more attractive, and should attract more investments for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, as well as opportunities will arise for local and service-providing companies.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the emergence of oil activity in Namibe has raised some concerns about the cohabitation between fishing and oil activities.<\/p>\n

However, he emphasized that the oil industry operates with the most modern exploration and production terminologies available on the market, providing high levels of efficiency and safety, ensuring that adverse impacts on the environment are minimized.<\/p>\n

He also stated that more than 80 percent of national oil production comes from mature oil fields, making it necessary and crucial to make investments in the sector to increase exploration, aiming to replace the reserves produced and mitigate the decline in oil production. production.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the development of mineral and oil activity in the province of Namibe should also create new job opportunities for youth.<\/p>\n

For the minister, operators in the oil sector must be concerned with increasing the qualification level of their national workforce and providing them with conditions to develop their professional careers.<\/p>\n

The province of Namibe, he highlighted, has strategic infrastructures such as the Port of Namibe, Porto Mineraleiro do Saco Mar and the Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Railway (CFM), which play an important role in carrying out activities linked to the local and national economy, including mineral activities and support for the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n

“The joint holding of the workshop by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas and the Government of Namibe is aligned with the Executive’s strategy to promote the potential of mineral, oil and gas resources existing in this province, to attract investors, for the benefit of the economic development and well-being of the populations\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

In the workshop on Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, which takes place under the motto \u201cSustainable exploration of mineral resources, oil and gas\u201d, participants debate topics on environmental legislation, mineral resources, oil and gas, ecological potential of the province of Namibe, mining potential and business opportunities in the province, facilities for creating small industries in the mining sector.<\/p>\n
