Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Ma\u0301rio de Oliveira, has been participating, since this Monday, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).<\/b><\/p>\n

WRC-23 brings together national government entities, telecommunications regulators, representatives of main users and radiocommunications providers to address issues related to crucial technical policies and regulations at a global level.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the conference, minister Ma\u0301rio de Oliveira stated that Angola’s contributions to the world conclave are being well received and highlights the work of the technical team that was part of a commission of African countries.<\/p>\n

He praised the approval, on Monday afternoon, during an ITU plenary, of a resolution related to the range of frequencies in the exploration of satellites.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, there were voices that defended the transfer of a set of frequencies allocated to the space segment to the mobile telephone industry.<\/p>\n

“It was excellent work by the African countries”, said the head of MINTTICS, for whom the union was successful.<\/p>\n

“We are happy with Resolution 599 approved and there are other issues regarding the radio spectrum still under discussion,” he said.<\/p>\n

As part of Angola’s participation in WRC-23, minister Ma\u0301rio Oliveira held several meetings, with emphasis on representatives from the African Telecommunications Union.<\/p>\n

Also this Monday, the government official had a working meeting with the Angolan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ju\u0301lio Maiato.<\/p>\n

The minister’s agenda also includes parallel meetings with representatives of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.<\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation is made up of senior officials from MINTTICS, the Angolan Communications Institute (INACOM) and the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), as well as staff from the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC).<\/p>\n

The event is organized by the United Nations specialized agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) under the auspices of the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority.<\/p>\n
