Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The accumulated debt of customers of the Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) in Ui\u0301ge is valued at 3.5 billion Kwanzas, reported Wednesday, the provincial director of the public company, Adriano Jose\u0301 Sebastia\u0303o.<\/b><\/p>\n

Regarding customers’ debt to ENDE, he said that it has been going on for nine years and the biggest debtors are public institutions and domestic consumers.<\/p>\n

To avoid future embarrassment, he called on clients (debtors) to contact ENDE in order to negotiate the debt.<\/p>\n

Still on debts, he recalled that ENDE in Ui\u0301ge has been carrying out, since November 20th, an awareness campaign and updating customer data, as well as instilling in consumers’ minds the culture of paying for electricity consumption.<\/p>\n

As for the challenges, the person in charge pointed to the expansion of the electricity network in other municipalities in the province of Ui\u0301ge. Only the municipalities of Ui\u0301ge, Negage, Maquela do Zombo and Sanza-Pombo have electricity from the public network, for a total of 50 thousand customers.<\/p>\n

Vandalization of electrical equipment with costs estimated at 30 million Kwanzas<\/p>\n

The person responsible for ENDE in Ui\u0301ge reported that 30 million Kwanzas is the estimated value for replacing the 10 Transformer Stations (PTs), vandalized in the last 11 months, in the main municipality of Ui\u0301ge province, by unknown individuals.<\/p>\n

ENDE in Ui\u0301ge has a total of 187 PTs that supply energy to 50 thousand customers in the municipalities of Ui\u0301ge, Negage and Sanza-Pombo.<\/p>\n

In light of the incidents, Adriano Jose\u0301 Sebastia\u0303o said that they are working with the defense and security bodies to identify the perpetrators and, consequently, hold them criminally responsible.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, recently, more than a thousand families in the Kilala, Ana Candande, Kigima, Papela\u0303o and Mugualhema neighborhoods, on the outskirts of the city of Ui\u0301ge, were without access to electricity supply, due to the recent vandalization of an electricity distribution cabinet and removal of the protective land of PTs.<\/p>\n

To avoid future constraints on the supply of electricity in the region, Adriano Jose\u0301 Sebastia\u0303o appealed to the population to be vigilant and report any act of vandalization of public property.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he reported that, since January this year, 300 new household connections have been made, as well as the installation of 318 prepaid meters, in the central areas of Kilomosso, the Catapa neighborhood and the “500 Casas” housing project.<\/p>\n

He explained that the process of installing meters will cover other neighborhoods in the provincial headquarters of Ui\u0301ge and the municipalities of Negage, Maquela do Zombo and Sanza-Pombo.<\/p>\n
