Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of the province of Cuanza Norte, Luzia Jose, praised this Sunday, in Ndalatando, the firmness of the Army personnel in protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.<\/b><\/p>\n

When focusing on the political event commemorating the 17th of December, Army Day, he said that \u201cthis important\u201d branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), throughout its history, has always been focused on serving the country within the framework of the actions developed by the Angolan state.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the Army’s participation in moralizing society, as well as in search and rescue operations in the event of calamities and natural catastrophes, as well as in cleaning and vaccination campaigns<\/p>\n

He considered the army to be the greatest example of national reconciliation, as it brought together troops from formerly hostile forces and welcomed into its ranks citizens from all tribes and ethnicities in the country, without distinction of social stratum, religious belief or social discrimination.<\/p>\n

He recommended to the staff the continuous elevation of their patriotic sense, discipline and organization, guided by exemplary conduct within the military and in society.<\/p>\n

The commander of the Land Artillery and Anti-Air Defense Specialization School, Lieutenant Colonel Ambro\u0301sio Kapango, Paulino Anto\u0301nio, reaffirmed the Army’s readiness in the mission of defending the homeland and in maintaining the achievements achieved with the blood and sacrifice of countless Angolans.<\/p>\n

He also reaffirmed the Army’s availability to help the Government of Cuanza Norte in environmental education of citizens, collection and treatment of solid waste.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Army, one of the three branches of the Angolan Armed Forces, celebrated this Sunday, December 17th, its thirty-second anniversary.<\/p>\n

It resulted from the merger of the personnel of the extinct Popular Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA), assigned to the Government and the Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FALA), the former armed wing of UNITA, following the implementation of the Bicesse peace agreements, signed on May 31, 1991, in the Portuguese city of Bicesse.<\/p>\n

Witnessing the event, which took place at the Land Artillery and Anti-Air Defense Specialization School, among other individuals, were members of the military judiciary, senior officers, junior officers, FAA sergeants and enlisted men, members of the Government and guests.<\/p>\n
