Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Ambassador Sianga Abi\u0301lio stated, in Nairobi, that 2023 was one of the most dynamic in terms of the operation of the diplomatic mission, marked by the state visit of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to Kenya last October.<\/b><\/p>\n

Doing an evaluation at the end of the year greetings, Friday, at the Embassy of Angola, in Nairobi, witnessed by employees of the mission that extends to Uganda, South Sudan and Somalia, highlighted the relevant facts, armored with the signing of 11 Memorandums of Understanding, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Sianga Abi\u0301lio considered the state visit \u201chistorical\u201d, as it was the first of a President of the Republic of Angola to Kenya, in addition to being preceded by the I Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission for Angola-Kenya Cooperation, “an event, in itself, also important to mark the process of bilateral cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n

To the throughout 2023, highlighted the Angolan ambassador to Kenya and to the UN offices in Nairobi, the diplomatic mission participated in other important activities such as the travel of Carolina Cerqueira, president of National Assembly, Juba, for the Meeting of the Leaders of the Parliaments of the CIRGL Parliamentary Forum, Pope Francis’ visit to South Sudan, the 2nd Session of the UN-HABITAT Assembly, in which Angola saw the mandate on the Council Executive extended for another two years.<\/p>\n

O diplomat highlighted the trip to Nairobi by Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, Vice-President of the Republic, to participate in the first African Summit on Climate, the third Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiations Committee for the creation of an international law against plastic pollution and, recently, the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP-28) which took place in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).<\/p>\n

Sianga Abi\u0301lio recognized that the positive results of carrying out the mission diplomacy are the result of the good performance and team spirit of employees, both diplomats and local recruiters, having called for the maintenance of dedication to work in 2024, with a focus on monitoring the implementation of the agreements recently signed with Kenya and in the leadership of the SADC Group in Nairobi, in addition to the bilateral diplomatic coverage exercise in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan, and multilaterally, with the Program of Nations United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Environment Program Human Settlements (UN-HABITAT).<\/p>\n
