Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The installation of satellite positioning systems (GPS) in tanker trucks that transport fuel to the interior of the country was suggested, Wednesday, in Soyo, Zaire province, as a mechanism to reinforce the fight against smuggling of oil derivates.<\/b><\/p>\n

The proposal is expressed in the final communique\u0301 of the 4th extended meeting of the Northern Judiciary Region of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which took place over two days in the city of Soyo, in which representatives from the provinces of Zaire, Bengo, Cabinda, Ui\u0301ge, Kuanza Norte and Malanje.<\/p>\n

The participants considered the phenomenon of fuel smuggling in the border provinces of the north of the country to be critical, and therefore defended the installation of GPS in fuel trucks as one of the ways to combat this practice.<\/p>\n

These satellite positioning control devices (GPS), according to the final statement, would allow controlling the movement of tanker trucks that supply fuel to different regions of the country, from the starting point to the destination.<\/p>\n

They also suggested that the penal framework that applies to those responsible for fuel smuggling be aggravated.<\/p>\n

The meeting also recommended continued investment in training magistrates and justice technicians in technical-procedural matters, aiming to improve their provision.<\/p>\n

Greater rigor in the actions of public magistrates in controlling preventive prisons, improving their coordination with guarantee judges and in the interaction between the PGR, the Criminal Police Bodies and the Prison Service, are also among the recommendations.<\/p>\n

They also requested an increase in the number of Public Prosecutor’s Office magistrates and justice technicians, as well as an increase in the financial allocation and support vehicles for the secretariats.<\/p>\n

The meeting covered topics such as \u201cState legislative policy to combat fuel smuggling\u201d, \u201cTraffic control and fuel supply\u201d, as well as \u201cTax infractions\u201d.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201cThe role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in combating cross-border crimes”, the 4th extended meeting of the Northern Judicial Region of the PGR was guided by the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Gilberto Mizalaque Vunge.<\/p>\n
