Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, said that the maintenance and necessary staff for the operation of the Luanda Science Center, opened on Wednesday night, are guaranteed.<\/b><\/p>\n

After visiting the facilities at length, he declared to the press that \u201ccompleting projects is important, but it is even more important to guarantee their continuity with the required quality\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that “the investment made is large and that there is a need for its maintenance\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted to the journalists that he decided to build the Science Center, unlike the museum initially planned for the site, due to the fact that it is more interactive.<\/p>\n

He said he believes that the Technological Center will allow for more intelligence and also educational, with an important practical component.<\/p>\n

Asked about the prospect of building new science centers, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o stated that greater interaction with other institutions was necessary so that a greater number of young people could attend the facilities.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mario de Oliveira, defended the importance of young people starting, as early as possible, contact with science and technology, so that the country follows the path of development .<\/p>\n

The minister believes that mastering technology contributes to the modernization of the industry, with consequent gains for the country’s development.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosa\u0301rio Braganc\u0327a, after praising the facilities’ gains, declared that scientific education plays a crucial role in empowering people.<\/p>\n

Maria Braganc\u0327a wants visitors to the center to better understand, in a simple and fun way, the world around them.<\/p>\n

With this, he hopes that the institution will awaken curiosity for a greater understanding of phenomena in the various domains of everyday life.<\/p>\n

The director of the Special Works Office, Leonel da Cruz, after presenting the infrastructure, suggested opening the management of the Science Center to public and private companies, as part of their social responsibility actions, in a duly regulated model.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of the center by the President of the Republic, who was accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o, was witnessed by the Prime Minister of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Patrice Trovoada, the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, members of the Executive and senior State officials.<\/p>\n

Located in an area of \u200b\u200b17,667 square meters, the institution, unique in the country, should be a space dedicated to the promotion of science, technology and innovation.<\/p>\n

In addition to the exhibition rooms, with 278 modules, the equipment includes a planetarium, video mapping, cinema room, butterfly garden and Casa Secular.<\/p>\n

According to explanations given, the planetarium is a celestial projection space, with projectors to explore the cosmos and the stars, while video mapping, with 8 projectors, allows exploring themes such as Angolan reality, the human body, planets, fauna, flora, soap bubbles and light refraction.<\/p>\n

In turn, the cinema room has 146 seats, with special effects, such as vibration, water, sensation of wind and touch, while the butterfly garden allows you to see live butterflies.<\/p>\n

Casa Secular, a historic building that predates the 1925 soap factory, houses a butterfly exhibition room, support laboratory, offices and an exhibition room on the history of science in Angola.<\/p>\n

The center is located in the old soap factory, in the Baleiza\u0303o area, lower part of the city of Luanda, and will have 68 employees, as well as 16 replicas of robotic dinosaurs.<\/p>\n
