Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than half of Angola’s SAN population, whose communities were estimated at between 500 and five thousand people, died in recent years, as a result of diseases and the consequences of climate change, reveals a study published in a book, presented in Hui\u0301la by the Scientific Association of Angola (ACA).<\/b><\/p>\n

This is the scientific work \u201cThe Place of the SAN of Angola in the Construction of a Multiethnic Society\u201d, with five chapters described in 88 pages, which covers the history of this group, its cultural system, distribution throughout the Angolan territory, situation socioeconomic, segregation and integration and inclusion.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the book presentation, the executive secretary of ACA, Fernando Guelengue, highlighted that the study is the result of \u201cextensive\u201d scientific work carried out in southwestern Angola, with the aim of scientifically studying various aspects of the life of the target group.<\/p>\n

The researcher stated that SAN communities in Angola were made up of between 500 and five thousand, but the study reveals that they have reduced to less than half.<\/p>\n

He indicated that there are reports of many deaths due to lack of transport to take them to hospitals, as well as poverty, which forces them to adapt to the Bantu lifestyle, as they are the main victims of climate change, given that Nature offers them almost no wild fruits, which reduces their life expectancy.<\/p>\n

Fernando Guelengue pointed out that the SAN are a minority at risk of extinction and as an example he pointed to the province of Namibe, where during the research period, the researchers did not find any community, unlike Hui\u0301la, Cunene, Cuando Cubango and Moxico, despite few.<\/p>\n

This is the first phase of the study and aimed at publishing the book and distributing the thousand copies produced free of charge. The second phase of the study involves empowering those targeted, as the Association of SANs in Angola was proclaimed in March of the current year, in the province of Hui\u0301la.<\/p>\n
