Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Seven million chickens could be produced annually, from March 2024, in the provinces of Malanje and Cuanza Norte, within the scope of the poultry project of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country, the first phase of which was inaugurated ,Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Budgeted at 50 million US dollars, the initiative aims to guarantee the logistical sustainability of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and supply chicken to the national market, alongside the socio-economic framework of former soldiers and job creation.<\/p>\n

The project includes 140 ships (60 for Malanje and 80 for Cuanza Norte), each with five thousand chicks and a slaughterhouse, and will contribute to savings of 300 million US dollars spent annually on importing chickens, according to the executive director of Jampur Group, Muhammad Shafiq, partner of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland.<\/p>\n

It also has 19 other buildings for fattening and a slaughterhouse in the commune of Quizenga, municipality of Cacuso, with an initial production capacity of 15 thousand chickens per 36-day cycle.<\/p>\n

It will have another 120 ships that will be operational until March 2024, when the project matures, which is estimated to generate 2,800 direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, stressed that the project represents an added value for the province, in particular, and for the country in general, as it will reduce the deficit in chicken production.<\/p>\n

He challenged investors to invest more in boosting the productive sector, with a view to diversifying the national economy.<\/p>\n

The inauguration was carried out by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano and was witnessed by the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos and by the governors of the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Pedro Maquita and Malanje , and by the Angolan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ju\u0301lio Belarmino Gomes Maiato.<\/p>\n
