Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Police (PN) in Benguela recorded, in the last 11 months, seven thousand and 85 different crimes, 26 fewer compared to the same period in 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by Commissioner Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos, commander of the PN in the province of Benguela, during the launch of forces to ensure the festive season.<\/p>\n

The official commissioner stated that, during this period, 3,076 crimes were solved, resulting in the arrest of 2,734 citizens allegedly involved in the commission of said crimes.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, the types of crimes point to 1,371 (-42) against people, 4,189 (+63) against property and 210 (+16) of an economic nature, respectively.<\/p>\n

Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos assured that, despite the numbers mentioned, the PN in Benguela has increased several actions that aim to discourage the practice of crimes, such as patrols on foot, motor vehicles and cars, aimed at areas prone to the occurrence of crimes.<\/p>\n

The official commissioner said that, in the year about to end, the PN maintained a responsible stance in the face of the various difficulties that the staff still faces, both in terms of working conditions and means, and in the standardization of the post-function component, which aims to provide greater financial dignity for employees and their families.<\/p>\n

The PN commander took the opportunity to warn the staff to base their actions on respect for fundamental human rights, as set out in the Constitution and other laws, under penalty of tarnishing the good name of the corporation.<\/p>\n

Road accidents cause more than 200 deaths _<\/p>\n

Two hundred and thirty people died and 1,284 others were injured, as a result of 1,013 road accidents recorded during the period under analysis, he reported.<\/p>\n

According to Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos, during this period there was a reduction of 201 accidents, 30 deaths, as well as an increase of 28 serious and minor injuries, respectively.<\/p>\n

As for the Criminal Investigation Service, in the period under analysis, 8,269 cases were opened, of which 1,825 with prisoners and 6,444 without prisoners, with 3,958 cases being processed and sent to the justice bodies.<\/p>\n

He added, on the other hand, that the Civil Protection and Fire Service recorded in the same year of 2023, 302 different occurrences, with emphasis on 86 fires that caused material damage valued at 145 million, 809 thousand and 500 kwanzas.<\/p>\n

To reinforce operational capacity, Commissioner Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos delivered four motorbikes duly equipped to penetrate hilly areas, this weekend, to the PN municipal command in Benguela, to assist the Criminal Offenses investigation unit.<\/p>\n

Festive season<\/p>\n

More than eight thousand members of the MININT delegation are mobilized to ensure the festive season throughout Benguela.<\/p>\n

Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos guaranteed to continue reinforcing the maintenance of order and public security, through the improvement and expansion of the police network in all municipalities, communes and neighborhoods, with emphasis on the periphery.<\/p>\n

He also said that the staff will continue to seek to improve and expand proximity techniques, thus strengthening the relationship of trust between the PN and citizens, building on the feeling of public security.<\/p>\n
