Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The administrator for the technical area of \u200b\u200bthe Cunene Water and Sanitation Company (EASC), Evangelista Kamati, assured this Wednesday, in Ondjiva, that the water supplied to consumers is \u201cfully treated\u201d and continues to be drinkable, despite the levels of turbidity it presents.<\/b><\/p>\n

The water color situation, which has been registered since November, is worrying consumers who fear about the quality of the liquid.<\/p>\n

Speaking the official said that the situation with cloudy water happens every year, but this year it has a greater impact due to the intensity of the rains that are felt from the provinces of Bie\u0301 and Huambo, where the Cunene river flows. \u201cIt should be noted that the river, where the water comes from, originates in Bie\u0301 and passes through Huambo, where heavy rains have been recorded in recent days, causing a great influence on the color currently observed\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

In this sense, it reassured consumers that the water supplied is properly treated and safe for human consumption, highlighting that the company has a sufficient stock of aluminum sulfate, chlorine and sodium hypochlorite, products used for treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen turbidity occurs, even when treated, the water always presents a difference, because it does not reach the appropriate level of (zero) Turbidity Measurement Unit (NTU), to have the usual quality\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

He made it known that EASC is capturing and producing 18 thousand cubic meters of water per day, which makes it possible to supply the population without interruption, within the company’s management, during the festive period.<\/p>\n

Along these lines, he called for the rational use of water, in order to avoid waste, as well as to avoid the vandalization of boxes, in terms of ducts.<\/p>\n

Evangelista Kamati also advised customers to comply with their monthly payments, so as not to have their water cut off, as well as help the company have more funds to resolve other specific situations.<\/p>\n

Cunene has a water treatment plant (WTP), located in the municipality of Ombadja, with the capacity to pump 24 million liters of drinking water per day, and has a distribution pipeline of 182,780 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The Cunene Water and Sanitation Company has 14 thousand 907 household connections in the cities of Ondjiva, Calueque, Xangongo, Humbe, Mo\u0302ngua, Santa Clara, Namacunde and Cahama.<\/p>\n
