Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Four thousand and 500 liters of fuel (gasoline and diesel), which would be smuggled to the neighboring Republic of Namibia, were seized last week, in the village of Oshiveio, municipality of Cuvelai, in the province of Cunene.<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the quantities seized by the National Police are four thousand and 300 liters of gasoline and 200 liters of diesel, packed in 1,000 and 25 liter drums, transported by a Mitsubishi vehicle, with the involvement of three detained citizens.<\/p>\n

The fuel was purchased at pumps in the municipality of Jamba, Hui\u0301la province, the director of Institutional Communication and Press of the Provincial Command of the National Police in Cunene, chief superintendent Nicolau Tuvecalela, told this Sunday.<\/p>\n

He clarified that those involved in these actions use the Fiote roads to gain access to the Namibian market, in order to sell fuel.<\/p>\n

In view of the situation, he said that the forces of order and security have redoubled their inspection and surveillance actions, to stop such practices with the collaboration of the population.<\/p>\n

Nicolau Tuvecalela highlighted that the objective is to intensify actions to combat fuel smuggling, especially on the border between Angola and Namibia, to prevent those involved from practicing this type of trade.<\/p>\n

Last week, the Police recovered three thousand and 600 liters of gasoline and diesel that had the same destination and were recovered in residences in the village of Santa Clara and Namacunde, during the Operation called ‘Okuliandja’.<\/p>\n

Police data indicate that, this year, more than 40 vehicles, national and Namibian, with adapted tanks, intended for fuel smuggling, were seized, as well as 20,810 liters of gasoline and diesel.<\/p>\n
