Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) in Cuando Cubango, Celi\u0301cia Bimba Incha, reaffirmed this weekend, in the commune of Jamba Cueio, 120 kilometers south of Menongue, her commitment and determination in the ongoing fight for rights of women and gender equality, for their better integration into society.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ceci\u0301lia Bimba Incha reiterated this challenge when speaking at the opening of the activities on January 10th, the day the organization was founded, which takes place under the motto: \u201cAngolan Woman: committed to the socio-economic development of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he highlighted the commitment undertaken by anonymous and well-known heroines, many alive and others already physically missing, for their dedication to the cause of women.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the 10th of January 1962 resulted from the strength and strategy of the women who were part of the group of Angolan militants and warriors of the MPLA, exiled in the former Belgian Congo Leopoldville, where they decided to create, in 1956, the humanitarian and of solidarity, to help the refugees they called \u201cKudia Ngo\u201d, which translated into Portuguese means \u201ceat alone\u201d.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the main contribution of women was linked to health and agricultural tasks, food production for the guerrillas and school activities, with emphasis on literacy and staff training.<\/p>\n

He explained that in 1960, after observing the capacity of women and taking into account the great work carried out, the MPLA expressed its recognition and guided the emergence of a female organization that defended women’s rights.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that with the arrival of some MPLA members in Leopoldville, coming from Guinea Conacry and guided by Matias Mingue\u0302s and Viriato da Cruz, in September 1961, more women were mobilized to join the organization, culminating in the official date of the its foundation on January 10, 1962.<\/p>\n

As part of the activities scheduled to celebrate the anniversary, a layette was given to the first baby born in the Cuando Cubango provincial maternity hospital, a wreath was laid at the tomb of the unknown soldier and plans are to be held a round table on Radio Cuando Cubango, lectures, delivery of certificates of merit, among other activities.<\/p>\n
