Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The ambassador of Co\u0302te d’Ivoire accredited to Angola, Jean-Marie Santie\u0301ro, said this Tuesday, in Luanda, that Angola deserves respect in the African Cup of Nations which starts on Saturday (13), in his country.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to Ra\u0301dio Nacional de Angola (RNA), in reaction to the start of the continental competition, the diplomat considers Angola a power that still needs to impose itself in Africa, but that \u201cshould not be ignored\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jean-Marie Santie\u0301ro recognizes that Angola is well known in terms of men’s basketball (11 titles) and women’s handball (15), the same is not true for football.<\/p>\n

“Even so, I am sure that the Angolan team cannot be ignored in this competition, where they will be able to do their best. Angolans have a lot of passion for football, so a lot of good things can happen\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

For him, football in Angola is similar to that played in Brazil and Portugal.<\/p>\n

In CAN, which was supposed to be played in 2023, but transferred to this year (2024), by decision of CAF, the National Team appears in group D, alongside Algeria, Mauritania and Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n
