Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) plans to introduce in court, in the coming days, one of the three criminal cases related to the management of businesswoman Isabel dos Santos as president of the Board of Directors of the Angolan oil company Sonangol.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the Attorney General of the Republic, He\u0301lder Pitta Gro\u0301z, adding that there are other criminal cases involving the former president of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, in the conclusive phase or under investigation preparatory.<\/p>\n

He\u0301lder Pitta Gro\u0301z, who was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for 30 new magistrates, said that the PGR plans to send them to court during the first quarter of this year, and said that the dynamics of the cases in question do not depend on actions developed by Interpol.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are managing to respond well to the processes we had in hand, but, as we know, criminal inspection is not always easy and when we depend on third parties”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

There are three known processes that were publicly initiated by the PGR against Isabel dos Santos, the first of which consists of a precautionary measure of arrest, decreed, on December 23, 2019, by the Provincial Court of Luanda.<\/p>\n

The second case is related to Sonangol and the third is also a civil precautionary measure, that is, it does not investigate crimes or give rise to arrest.<\/p>\n

Regarding the case of the former Vice-President of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, the judge reaffirmed that work is being done, as immunities have been lifted, as the period granted by law has expired.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo now we are working on them and we will see how long we can complete it,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

During the event, six deputy attorneys general of the Republic were sworn in, who will work in Luanda and Benguela, three inspectors and 17 heads of provinces and courts in the relationship.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the magistrate defended the intensification of PGR inspection services, in order to make them stronger and with trained professionals.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the courts of the relationship to speed up their work, with a view to providing faster responses to the various appeal processes.<\/p>\n
