Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Construction work on the country’s first One-Stop Border Post (PFPU), to be located at the Luvo customs post, municipality of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, will begin in the coming months.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project aims to simplify customs procedures and subsequent agglutination, also avoiding double taxation on products and goods that move to both sides of the common border (Angola\/DRC).<\/p>\n

The guarantee comes from the regional director of the General Tax Administration (AGT) of the First Tax Region, Ricardo Jose\u0301 Aguiar, who was speaking to the press, in the border commune of Luvo, which is 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo.<\/p>\n

He explained that, in the same space, the services of bodies from Angola and the DRC that intervene in monitoring the entry and exit of people and goods to both sides will be brought together.<\/p>\n

Bodies such as the General Tax Administration (AGT), the Migration and Foreigners Services (SME), as well as other related public administrative services will be confined to the future infrastructure in question, according to the source.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is intended is the elimination of double taxation on products that circulate to both neighboring territories, given that, currently, the taxpayer completes tax formalities on the Angolan side, repeating the same procedure on another side of the DRC\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

He informed that the project for the construction of the Single Stop Border Post had already been approved by the Executive, which also provided the funds for its implementation, but without specifying the amount.<\/p>\n

He made it known that a public tender had been launched for this purpose, with participating companies having already submitted their budget proposals, which are being evaluated by the committee in charge of this tender process.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt a national level, the Luvo customs post will be the first to benefit from this One-Stop Border Post\u201d, said the director, for whom this project complies with the guidelines and recommendations of the World Trade Organization (WTO).<\/p>\n

The project will occupy a space of 15 hectares, comprising seven buildings for social areas, a medical center, and a scanner system for inspecting goods.<\/p>\n

Toll, parking lots for heavy and light vehicles, free area for dangerous products, as well as quarantine, expansion zones for other services, laboratories and watchtowers are also among the features of the future customs infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The regional director of AGT, which serves the provinces of Zaire and Cabinda, was speaking on the sidelines of the visit of the Attorney General of the Republic, He\u0301lder Pitta Groz, to the Luvo customs post, as part of his recent two-day visit to Zaire.<\/p>\n
