Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The tilapia frying center installed on the Mussangi farm, in the municipality of Negage, province of Ui\u0301ge, plans to produce, from this year onwards, 31 million fry\/year, with a view to increasing cacusso fish production levels in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

This Friday, the head of the farm, Eliseu Manuel, said that the tilapia fish farming project began to fully operate in 2023.<\/p>\n

He reported that during the year 2023 to date, the farm produced 300 thousand fry.<\/p>\n

He said that in this first phase the fry production project has 14 fattening tanks, four of which are already repopulated with fish.<\/p>\n

These tanks are 150 meters long, 38 meters wide and two meters deep, with the capacity to hold 70 thousand fish each.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the province of Ui\u0301ge reached a production of 84 thousand 970 tons of cacusso fish (tilapia), compared to 80 thousand 152 in the previous year, in 359 aquaculture projects, in a universe of 3,820 tanks.<\/p>\n

As for marketing, Eliseu Manuel said that the first sales of fingerlings and fish (tilapia) are scheduled for next June in markets in the region and later in other locations.<\/p>\n

He also clarified that, in addition to fish production, the farm is focused on planting mango trees, guava trees, avocado trees, safu trees, pitaya trees and others.<\/p>\n

The farm created 15 direct jobs and 73 indirect jobs.<\/p>\n

In turn, the head of the Provincial Department of Continental Fisheries and Aquaculture in Ui\u0301ge, Jose\u0301 Kupessa, reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to installing a fish conservation center in the region.<\/p>\n
