{"id":54141,"date":"2024-01-17T17:44:35","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T17:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=54141"},"modified":"2024-01-17T16:50:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T16:50:20","slug":"national-maritime-surveillance-center-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/national-maritime-surveillance-center-opens","title":{"rendered":"National Maritime Surveillance Center opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The National Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Center, located in Barra do Cuanza, in Luanda, was inaugurated this Tuesday morning by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Budgeted at around US$70 million, the center is part of the Angolan Executive&#8217;s strategy of providing the Angolan Navy (MGA) with modern resources, to better respond to the sector&#8217;s challenges, including the protection of the Angolan Exclusive Maritime Economic Zone. country, of around 200 nautical miles.<\/p>\n<p>The National Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Center was built on a total area of \u200b\u200b32 hectares, including the space reserved for its expansion, and is located on Estrada Nacional (EN) 100, in the Ramiros neighborhood, municipality of Belas, nine kilometers from Barra do Cuanza.<\/p>\n<p>The infrastructure, whose work was committed in September 2019 and which should be delivered in December 2020, includes an operations room, administrative building, mid-post, cafeteria, gym, dormitory and streets.<\/p>\n<p>It will work in coordination with the centers in Soyo, Zaire province, Lobito (Benguela) and Namibe, located along the Angolan sea coast.<\/p>\n<p>The Angolan coastline is 1,650 kilometers long, from north to south, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>In the last visit to the site, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o highlighted the strategic importance of the infrastructure, which will be responsible for monitoring all movements in Angolan territorial waters 24\/24.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized, on the occasion, that the surveillance centers will be the &#8220;eyes&#8221; of the Angolan Navy, providing information on fishing vessels, illegal fishing, Merchant Navy ships and others that sail in national waters.<\/p>\n<p>The Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Center will play a strategic role in the protection of Angolan territorial waters and will contribute to the country&#8217;s maritime security, in coordination with other centers, to collect information and provide it to vessels in case of need for intervention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
