Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the National Federation of Livestock Cooperatives of Angola (FENACOOPA), Salvador Rodrigues, reaffirmed this Thursday, in the province of Cunene, the need to operationalize the National Plan for the Promotion and Development of Livestock (Planapecua\u0301ria), in order to ensure the promotion of animal protein farming in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview the person responsible said that the execution of Planapecua\u0301ria will allow increasing levels of production of meat and meat products, as well as enabling the creation of properties to improve pastures with the cultivation of suitable forage crops in each region.<\/p>\n

He said that breeders practice transhumance, due to the lack of pasture and water in rural areas, which is why greater investment is necessary for them to achieve greater sustainability.<\/p>\n

The president also highlighted the creation of confinement fields, so that breeders can produce fodder and in times of scarcity of pasture, cattle are introduced into this area to guarantee the fattening process.<\/p>\n

Salvador Rodrigues highlighted the Executive’s commitment to building dams and canals such as Cafu, in the province of Cunene, constituting assertive policies that aim to mitigate and minimize these situations, with the settlement of populations and livestock in places with better access to water and pasture.<\/p>\n

Within Planapecua\u0301ria, he highlighted that Fenacoopa designed the genetic improvement program for the species, which involves replacing the old herd with small cattle, with the aim of obtaining quality animals.<\/p>\n

The official recalled that the southern region has enough livestock potential to guarantee more than 60 percent of the supply of meat and its derivatives across the country, followed by Benguela and Cuanza sul.<\/p>\n

Planapecua\u0301ria was approved by Presidential Decree No. 13\/23 of January 6, and is part of the Government’s package of policies and strategies to promote and develop the production of beef, pork, goat, sheep and poultry, milk and eggs.<\/p>\n

With the implementation of the plan, the Angolan Government expects an increase in beef production from 62.1 thousand tons to 109.4 thousand tons and pork will increase from nine thousand to 123.4 thousand tons, goat\/sheep will increase from 157, 1 for 310.1 tons.<\/p>\n
