Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Rwandan ambassador accredited to Angola, Charles Rudakubana, expressed, this Friday, in Luanda, his commitment to working on the creation of parliamentary friendship groups and on the issue of visa suppression between the two states.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, following an audience with the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, he emphasized the need for regular visits between Angolan and Rwandan deputies.<\/p>\n

The graduate also expressed the need to strengthen the relationship and communication between the two peoples, which involves abolishing visas between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Charles Rudakubana, who has been in the country since November 2023, recalled that Angola and Rwanda signed memorandums of understanding in the fields of agriculture, transport, tourism, education, among others.<\/p>\n

Rwanda’s Parliament has 106 deputies, of which 61 percent are women, distributed across two Chambers, namely the Chamber of Deputies, with 80 parliamentarians, and the Senate Chamber, with 26 senators.<\/p>\n

The National Assembly of Angola, which is unicameral in nature, is made up of 220 deputies, 130 of which are elected by the national circle and 90 by the provincial circle.<\/p>\n

Bilateral Agreements<\/p>\n

The legal basis for bilateral cooperation between Angola and Rwanda was established on May 15, 2014, with the signing of the Framework Agreement for Economic, Technical-Scientific and Cultural Cooperation and the Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission.<\/p>\n

On May 30, 2023, the two countries signed nine legal instruments, including agreements to avoid double taxation, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, transfer of convicted persons, memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Livestock Development.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy are the memoranda of understanding on Local Administration, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Cooperation in the field of Health, as well as the memorandum of understanding on the National School of Administration and Public Policy and the Rwanda Institute of Management.<\/p>\n
