Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The massification of inter-municipal sport is the Government’s main focus in the Province of Luanda (GPL), with the aim of benefiting communities.<\/b><\/p>\n

These words were expressed this Sunday by the Governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, during the tribute to the former player of Progresso do Sambizanga, Benfica de Lisboa and the National Football Team, Pedro Manuel Torres “Man-Torras”.<\/p>\n

During the act of tribute carried out by the Municipality of Luanda, the governor recognized that sport, particularly football, is an instrument of unity, and that it must be cultivated within communities.<\/p>\n

However, he said, GPL’s commitment is to take sport into communities, with the launch of intermunicipal championships, given the importance it has for the populations.<\/p>\n

The tribute game took place at the Ma\u0301rio Santiago field, hosted by Progresso Associac\u0327a\u0303o Sambizanga (PAS), which pitted two teams (mixed) from the neighborhoods of Lixeira and Congolenses, as part of the tournament called “Cidade de Luanda 448 anos”.<\/p>\n

In turn, Pedro Manuel Torres \u201cMan-Torras”, welcomed this gesture from the authorities of the Municipality of Luanda and the Provincial Government, for organizing an event in honor of his achievements in his football life.<\/p>\n

He recognized it as being the first time he was honored in his country with a high-level event, which deserved the affection of a human frame in the field where he began to take his first steps.<\/p>\n

Pedro Mantorra informed that he will continue to be the main motivator of youth, especially in the neighborhood where he grew up, Sambizanga.<\/p>\n

Pedro Manuel Torres was born in the province of Huambo, on March 18, 1982. He played for Progresso do Sambizanga, his training club, and stood out for Sport Lisboa e Benfica, where he is an “ambassador” for the “red” club. ‘ of the Portuguese capital.<\/p>\n

During his career he suffered a serious injury to his right knee, which caused him to have some limitations and consequently his retirement from the field at the age of 30.<\/p>\n

Man-torras was at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, in addition to other competitions on the African continent.<\/p>\n
