Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The participation of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in the investiture ceremony of Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi, re-elected for a second term at the helm of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was the highlight of last week’s political news.<\/b><\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o joined other Heads of State and Government, invited to the inauguration ceremony, which took place in the country’s capital, Kinshasa.<\/p>\n

The United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU) sent their emissaries.<\/p>\n

President Tshisekedi won last December’s presidential elections, thus remaining in office since his first electoral victory in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Angolan statesman congratulated his counterpart, stressing that it reveals the trust placed by the Congolese people, who, by reappointing him to the highest judiciary in the DRC, demonstrates that he positively values \u200b\u200ball political action and efforts undertaken by himself and his Government , in the last four years.<\/p>\n

In his message, the acting president of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) said that this appreciation of the people goes towards reestablishing peace, stability and harmony in the DRC.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy is the inauguration, by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, of the National Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Center, in the coastal area of \u200b\u200bRamiros, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o ensured, on the occasion, the continuation of the modernization process of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), with emphasis on the Navy.<\/p>\n

He said these are investments on land that include the acquisition of modern vessels, as well as surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.<\/p>\n

He also announced the construction of the Navy’s largest central naval base, while the current one is undergoing rehabilitation, as well as the acquisition, soon, in Spain, of three maritime reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft.<\/p>\n

During the week, the Council of Ministers adjusted public service salary tables by 5 percent of the base salary.<\/p>\n

According to the press release of the meeting, guided by the Holder of the Executive Branch, the measure aims to partially restore the purchasing power of salaries, reconciling the dignity of public servants and administrative agents in return for the services provided.<\/p>\n

Also during the week, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, swore in the new governor of the province of Cuanza-Norte, Joa\u0303o Diogo Gaspar.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press about what can be expected from his performance in his new role, he said he had received specific guidelines aimed at developing the province, essentially in the education, health and agriculture sectors.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Diogo Gaspar is the 12th governor to lead the destinies of the province of Cuanza-Norte, since 1976.<\/p>\n

In the last seven days, the Holder of the Executive Branch created, by order, the Interministerial Commission for the Organization of Commemorative Actions Allusive to the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, to be celebrated on November 11, 2025.<\/p>\n

The commission is coordinated by the Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Ada\u0303o de Almeida, and its deputy coordinator is the Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado.<\/p>\n

The Interministerial Commission, whose mandate is limited to organizing preparations for the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, includes the Ministers of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano, and for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote, among other department heads ministerials.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Attorney General of the Republic, He\u0301lder Pitta Groz, confirmed, during the week under review, the introduction in court, in the coming days, of the criminal case against Isabel dos Santos, accused of several crimes during her administration from the oil company Sonangol.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor, who was speaking on the sidelines of the closing of the IV extended meeting of the southern judicial region of the PGR, said that the preparatory investigation of the case has been completed and the indictment has been drawn up, which at the end of the period will go to court.<\/p>\n

He informed that, in this process, the lawyers have already been notified, and that they are just waiting for their reaction before taking legal action and that \u201cfor now everything remains a secret from the courts\u201d.<\/p>\n

In addition, the inspector general of State Administration, A\u0302ngelo Veiga Tavares, recognized, in Luanda, society’s involvement in combating acts of corruption, through public complaints.<\/p>\n

The person in charge emphasized that society in general and the media, in particular, have played a very important role, through complaints, many of them anonymously.<\/p>\n

In the party chapter, the MPLA vice-president, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, defended an assertive ideological political vision to allow party leaders and cadres a constant commitment to satisfying the social needs of citizens, through the adoption of greater empathy and probity in management of public affairs.<\/p>\n

The political leader was speaking at the opening of the advanced political-ideological training course for MPLA staff and leaders.<\/p>\n
