Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola expressed this Sunday, in Kampala (Uganda), its “deep indignation” at the attack on the safety and physical integrity of its diplomat Gilberto Veri\u0301ssimo, current president of the ECCAS Commission, based in Libreville, the Gabonese capital.<\/b><\/p>\n

The indignation was expressed by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, in a meeting he held, in the Ugandan capital, with the head of state of Equatorial Guinea and acting president of the CEEAC (Economic Community of Central African States), Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.<\/p>\n

Gilberto Veri\u0301ssimo, of Angolan nationality, saw his residence invaded by armed and uniformed Gabonese men on Wednesday (17), who psychologically molested him while they searched the rooms of his house.<\/p>\n

According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio asked Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to intercede with the Gabonese authorities about what happened.<\/p>\n

He called on the Gabonese authorities to observe the principles of protection and safeguarding the security and physical integrity of diplomatic entities accredited in the country, in accordance with the different legal diplomas of Public International Law.<\/p>\n

The final communique\u0301 of the fifth extraordinary session of the summit of ECCAS heads of state and government, within the framework of the Council for Peace and Security in Africa (COPAX), released last December, in Djiblolo, Equatorial Guinea, called on Gabon to guarantee security conditions for the President of the Commission, its members and all its staff.<\/p>\n
