Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Those responsible for bakeries in the municipality of Saurimo, (Lunda-Sul), were instructed this Friday to improve the quality of bread and its size, by the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA).<\/b><\/p>\n

ANIESA’s provincial coordinator in Lunda-Sul, Kelson Malomalo, said that bakeries have up to a week to improve the quality of their bread, and that non-compliances will be penalized.<\/p>\n

Kelson Malomalo, who was speaking at the meeting with managers of several bakeries, highlighted that the activity served to address the current situation of the profession and access to raw materials.<\/p>\n

“Bread is considered by Angolan families as one of the primary foods, due to the frequency with which it is consumed, especially at breakfast”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Sallen, owner of a bakery, stated that the meeting served to present some difficulties they are experiencing, particularly the acquisition of fuel at exorbitant prices, the rise in wheat flour and yeast, among others.<\/p>\n

Data from the Provincial Office for Integrated Economic Development in Lunda Sul indicate the existence of more than 22 bakery units, including bakeries and pastry shops, mostly owned by foreigners, especially Mauritanians and Guineans.<\/p>\n
