Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The construction of the Spool base at the Sonamet shipyard, in Lobito, Benguela province, results from the need for around 20 kilometers of pipes (pip and in pipe) to connect oil wells at the Clov project facilities, ANGOP learned.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Clov project is located in Block 17, approximately 150 kilometers from the Angolan coast, with a water depth of between 1,100 and 1,400 meters, and has resources estimated at 55 million barrels of oil.<\/p>\n

According to the general director of TotalEnergies Angola, Martin Defontaines, in 2021, after carrying out a seismic campaign and data processing, a great opportunity was found to be able to produce more than 50 thousand barrels of oil\/day in five wells.<\/p>\n

“To develop these reservoirs, 20 kilometers of oil pipeline and underwater structure were needed, which are now being manufactured in this shipyard by around 300 Angolan workers, during more than two million hours of work”, he said, rejoicing.<\/p>\n

Martin Defontaines explained that the equipment will be transported and installed in the Clov project field, without interrupting production.<\/p>\n

According to the director, at the start of the project’s production, scheduled for the end of this year, a peak of thirty thousand barrels per day will be reached.<\/p>\n

He also said that TotalEnergies in Angola is committed to contributing to the creation of value in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

“We are gradually witnessing an increase in the complexity of equipment and services provided locally, which gives us comfort in finding Made in Angola solutions”, he assured.<\/p>\n

He said that it was found that the transfer of knowledge and training allow more and more Angolan companies and staff to work in the sector.<\/p>\n

“Our annual investment in local expenses amounts to more than a billion dollars for our oil operations and, in this way, we contribute to greater sustainability and value creation”, he stated.<\/p>\n

Martin Defontaines expressed his recognition to the teams that contributed to the construction of the Spool Base, much desired by the French oil company.<\/p>\n

“We count on you to maintain focus on preparing and supervising the work, and ensuring vigilance, to ensure that you can return home safely”, he appealed.<\/p>\n

In addition to Clov 3, TotalEnergies recently launched the Clov 2 and Da\u0301lia 3 projects, with 15 wells to produce around 100 million barrels of oil.<\/p>\n
