Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The South African ambassador to Angola, Oupa Ephraim Monareng, expressed this Saturday, in this city, the intention to build a historical monument in Malanje, to honor the soldiers of the South African Liberation Movement, killed in fighting in this province and in Angola in general.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat made this statement when speaking on the sidelines of visits he made to the former African National Congress (ANC) camp, the Tombs of South African soldiers, the former base, former reception centers and ANC training camp, located in the municipalities from Quela and Mucari.<\/p>\n

Oupa Ephraim Monareng said that the construction of a historical monument in the city of Malanje or in the municipalities where the ANC military bases were located, in addition to recognizing the bravery of the troops, will turn the combat zones into tourist attractions for nationals and foreigners and dignify the inhabitants of these regions.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he was indignant at the fact that he only found rubble in the aforementioned combat sites, with the exception of the graves of ANC soldiers.<\/p>\n

The veteran of the fight against Apartheid, also thanked Angola for its hospitality and support, for being the only country on the African continent that sheltered the members of the ANC and its military wing in the most difficult moments of the fight against Apartheid.<\/p>\n

The South African ambassador to Angola began a four-day working visit to Malanje on Wednesday (24), which aimed to see the combat zones of his country’s troops in the province.<\/p>\n

As the day continued, he visited former ANC reception centers and the BIOCOM project, the Pedras Negras, Pungo-Andongo and Montenegro farms, in the municipality of Cacuso.<\/p>\n
