Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>An unexploded bomb, model FAB – 250, considered \u201crare and highly powerful\u201d, was destroyed, in the town of Lushivi, 103 kilometers south of Luena, province of Moxico, by the Grupo Consultor de Minas (MAG).<\/b><\/p>\n

Capable of destroying an area of \u200b\u200b250 square meters, the artifact, weighing more than 100 kilograms, was recently discovered by a farmer from that location in the province of Moxico.<\/p>\n

In addition to this bomb, considered rare, 547 unexploded explosive devices were also destroyed on site, mostly multi-millimetre projectiles, grenades, mortars, anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, removed in the Kapango neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Luena, and in Lucusse commune.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Press, MAG Field Manager, Nicolau Mozingwa, said that the institution will continue to promote, until the first quarter of the current year, work to identify, clarify and clean up the remnants of the war in the Alto Luena neighborhood, communes of Lucusse and Luvuei, as well as in the municipality of Camanongue.<\/p>\n

For his part, the local representative of the National Mine Action Agency (ANAM), Chile Chicanha, praised the cooperation of the population in the process of reporting the existence of mines in their communities, especially in rural areas of the province.<\/p>\n

Moxico is considered the second most mine-affected province in the country, after Cuando-Cubango.<\/p>\n

In 2023, an area of \u200b\u200bsix million, 480 thousand and 779 square meters was demined, corresponding to 17 fields.<\/p>\n

Currently, the region has 227 mined areas in all LTY\/TC\/YD municipalities<\/p>\n
