Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The challenge of launching a new path so that the African continent stops being a space of exploitation, insecurity and mass migration is one of the objectives of the Italy-Africa Summit, which began on Sunday, in Rome, with the participation of Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the event, in which several African Heads of State and Government participate, Angola is present with a delegation led by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano, representing the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, according to a press release addressed.<\/p>\n

The note states that among other matters, the forum is discussing the “Mattei Plan”, valued annually at 2.8 million euros (1 euro is equivalent to Kz 900), which aims to “eliminate the causes that lead emigrants to abandon their their lands, cultural roots and family to seek a better life in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The plan, lasting four years and updatable and co-financed by several European countries, begins this year and serves to combat the worrying spread of Islamic radicalism.<\/p>\n

The same was presented at a Council of Ministers press conference by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, shortly after taking office, in October 2022.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMattei Plan\u201d primarily has as its areas of action cooperation for development, including the promotion of exports and investments, education and professional training, research and innovation, health, agriculture and food security, supply and sustainable exploitation of natural resources , environmental protection and the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, it focuses on modernizing and strengthening infrastructures, including digital ones, as well as valuing and developing the energy partnership in the field of renewable sources and supporting entrepreneurship, particularly for young people and women.<\/p>\n

According to the document, with this event, Italy wants the economic opportunities of the “cradle continent” to serve Africans.<\/p>\n

Fifty-seven delegations, including leaders from the European Union, representatives from the World Bank and other United Nations development agencies, among other entities, are present at the summit, which has as its main focus the “Plan Mattei”, named after the founder of Italian oil company ENI, Enrico Mattei.<\/p>\n
