Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>At least 45 thousand 597 elderly people living in extremely vulnerable conditions are assisted with basic food baskets and agricultural work tools, intermittently, by the provincial office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality.<\/b><\/p>\n

These are food products such as meat, beans, rice, flour, oil and pasta, as well as tubers, detergents, agricultural tools and fertilizers, with the aim of reinforcing the diet and income of those targeted, it was announced today, Monday On Friday, in Lubango, the director of the aforementioned, Lui\u0301sa Kaputo Basi.<\/p>\n

The director also stated that the group has reduced, because 23 thousand 144 elderly people were taken to the family environment, however, 97 are still hospitalized in the Home for the Elderly.<\/p>\n

Lui\u0301sa Kaputo considered that the delivery of food and other goods is not regular, due to financial difficulties and the lack of funds for this purpose.<\/p>\n

He stated that the Cabinet’s policy involves helping some elderly people to obtain small plots of food cultivation, as a form of therapy and income guarantee, which is why they are being helped with agricultural tools, fertilizers and seeds.<\/p>\n

Many of these elderly people, according to the director, benefit from Kwenda projects, whose money has facilitated the improvement of their diet.<\/p>\n
