Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A primary school, a diamond cutting machine and a school lunch processing unit were inaugurated this Tuesday in Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo.<\/b><\/p>\n

The school built and equipped by ENDIAMA, as part of its social responsibility, has 15 classrooms, with the capacity to accommodate two thousand and 25 students, in three shifts, and was budgeted at USD 2.3 million.<\/p>\n

The \u201cROBUST DIAM, LDA\u201d diamond cutting factory has a global investment of 5.5 million dollars and has an installed capacity of 96 thousand carats per year and a monthly average of eight thousand carats.<\/p>\n

With the construction of the factory, 200 jobs were created and a turnover of between 80 and 100 million dollars is expected in the first year of activity.<\/p>\n

The snack processing unit, budgeted at 2.7 million dollars, is part of the social responsibility efforts of Sociedade Mineira de Catoca and will initially produce 35 thousand snacks\/day, reaching 60 thousand of the installed capacity.<\/p>\n

The lunch will benefit a total of 215 thousand 724 students in Lunda Sul and others in reception centers, religious institutions, among others.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, stated that in recent years, the Government, led by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, has taken significant steps to expand, strengthen and increasingly assert the position of Angola as one of the largest diamond producers in the world.<\/p>\n

The Executive, he said, is actively developing its value chain, which offers extraordinary business opportunities, such as diamond cutting projects that are opening today.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that fundamental reforms have been implemented, both in the mining sector and in the diamond industry, starting with the governance model of the new diamond marketing policy, which encourages their production and sale to a wider range of customers, creating conditions for the cutting, polishing and jewelry industry.<\/p>\n

The minister stated that the inauguration of the aforementioned factory, an investment by Endiama EP and its partners, reaffirms the position of this company in the cutting and polishing business, supporting the Government’s effort in the great challenge of building and erecting similar manufacturing units in the provinces of Lunda South and Lunda North.<\/p>\n

He said that the quota of rough diamonds available to be allocated to cutting factories will increase, strengthening the desire to continue supplying raw materials for the development of the diamond cutting industry at national level.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we reaffirm our full support to investors for this initiative and encourage everyone involved to pursue excellence in their activities\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the minister said that primary school no. 144 – Alfredo Txihumbue, with an investment by Endiama and the construction of the school snack factory by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, constitutes the commitment of the mining sector in improving the conditions of life of the population.<\/p>\n

Witnessing the inauguration of the three infrastructures were the Secretary of State for Education, Pacheco Francisco, the governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, the PCA of ENDIAMA, Ganga Ju\u0301nior, members of the government and senior technicians from the mining sector.<\/p>\n
