Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, reaffirmed, this Tuesday, in Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), the need to create the Diamond Exchange, to boost the diamond subsector market and support diversification of the national economy.<\/b><\/p>\n

Diamantino Azevedo, who was speaking at the inauguration of three social infrastructures in Saurimo, namely a primary school, a diamond cutter and a school lunch processing unit, reinforced that the project is aligned with the actions and objectives of sustainable development of the UN, the African Mining Vision and the African Vision 2,063.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, in the diamond cutting segment, the importance of continuing to improve internal capabilities must be recognized, strengthening the infrastructure chain and increasing production volumes, in order to attract, capture and retain investments.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the construction of a Diamond Development Pole in the province of Lunda Norte as a novelty.<\/p>\n

For this reason, it invites investors to embrace the business opportunity and invest in diamond cutting factories, as well as in training young people and finding their first job.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2023 there was a poor performance in the global diamond industry, so we must be aware of these changes and work to guarantee authenticity and continue to add value to rough and polished national diamonds\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

He said that in view of this, the ministry he heads implemented provisional measures to encourage diamond cutting in Angola, aiming to create a more attractive business environment for investors.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur objective is to increase the quantity of diamonds cut in our country and guarantee their quality, so that we can compete effectively at a regional level and also start to make a name for ourselves in the international market\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

Witnessing the inauguration of the three infrastructures were the Secretary of State for Education, Pacheco Francisco, the governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, the PCA of ENDIAMA, Ganga Ju\u0301nior, members of the government and senior technicians from the mining sector.<\/p>\n
