Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verde’s ambassador to Angola, Ju\u0301lio Morais, pointed out this Wednesday, in Luanda, as one of the main challenges of cooperation relations the resumption of direct air connectivity between the two countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, at the end of a meeting with the vice-president of the MPLA, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, he said that steps are being taken towards sustained economic cooperation between the two States.<\/p>\n

Ju\u0301lio Morais informed that the resumption of air connectivity must be followed by the enhancement of the respective international airports and the creation of a joint company to explore new routes aimed at the North American, European and West African markets.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that, according to the ongoing partnership, his country operates, on a rental basis, an aircraft from the Angolan airline, TAAG.<\/p>\n

The head of the Cape Verdean diplomatic mission said that an agribusiness project should be resumed in the Kibala area (Kuanza-Sul), covering an area of \u200b\u200baround seven thousand hectares, as it adapts to the development priorities of the two countries.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted that there is a large Cape Verdean community with small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the agricultural, agro-business and agro-industrial areas.<\/p>\n

For ambassador Ju\u0301lio Morais, the challenges are essentially economic, which require choosing some projects that can leverage others within the scope of south-south cooperation between countries with a common purpose and ambitions.<\/p>\n

He added that Angolan investment in Cape Verde is notable in the air sector, with a company connecting the country’s different islands, as well as the presence of the African Investment Bank (BAI) and the telephone operator UNITEL.<\/p>\n

He also alluded to the excellent relations between the MPLA and the main parties in his country.<\/p>\n

The diplomat said he informed the vice-president of the MPLA about the program for the festivities for Ami\u0301lcar Cabral’s 100th birthday, to be celebrated on September 12th, in co-organization with the authorities of Guinea Bissau.<\/p>\n

The vice-president of the MPLA also received in audience the president of the Angola-Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, Mohamed Nasser, who told the press that he had expressed his willingness to attract new investments and continue to contribute to the economic development of Angola.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Nasser said that in the 30 years of the chamber’s existence, close to 700 companies have already been created, mainly in the food sector and contributing to the increase in the transformation of internal production.<\/p>\n

The President of the Angola-France bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Melquiades Kerlan, also highlighted the attraction of reciprocal private investments as a challenge.<\/p>\n
