Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Angolan Bar Association, Jose\u0301 Lui\u0301s Domingos, defended, in this city, a greater focus on the quality of lawyers launched into the job market, in order to meet the needs of the legal system.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the jurist, who spoke this Thursday at the inauguration of the first support room for lawyers at the Cavaco prison establishment, the OAA controls seven thousand lawyers, but the priority is not just to increase the quantity, but rather the quality of these lawyers..<\/p>\n

“Our intention is that the professionals launched into the job market meet the needs of the legal system”, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he considers that the lawyers’ room now inaugurated will give greater dignity to the practice of the profession, as well as better service to inmates.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned room comes as part of a partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, which created all the rehabilitation and equipment conditions for the project to become a reality.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Lui\u0301s Domingos stated that this project to create lawyers’ rooms will be expanded to other prison establishments and courts across the country, in order to guarantee good legal advice to all citizens, establishing direct contact with Minint and the judiciary.<\/p>\n

The person in charge expressed the OAA’s openness to cooperate with institutions that have responsibilities in implementing the democratic rule of law.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the provincial delegate for the Interior in Benguela, Aristo\u0301fanes dos Santos, who was responsible for handing over the keys to the new room, said that the aforementioned space will allow for greater quality in the services provided in contact with inmates and constituents.<\/p>\n

In his opinion, the impact of the room will quickly be noticed by the criminal population and their lawyers.<\/p>\n

Aristofanes dos Santos argues that a culture of consultation must continue to be provided to lawyers.<\/p>\n

The newly opened room is equipped with office furniture, computers, among other equipment that will offer greater dignity of service to the criminal population.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Bar Association controls, in Benguela, 640 registered members and 400 interns.<\/p>\n

The Cavaco prison establishment controls 1,728 inmates, of which 681 are in pre-trial detention and 1,047 are convicted.<\/p>\n
