Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Cuando Cubango, Helena Lourenc\u0327o Chimena, highlighted, this Thursday, the need for young people to be at the forefront of preserving national symbols, to honor the heroes of the Fatherland.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person in charge was speaking at the opening of the days commemorating the Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, which takes place on the 4th of February, with a lecture on \u201cThe courage and bravery of Angolans as a decisive factor in the struggle for national liberation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The vice-governor said it is important that young people, regardless of their academic or professional level, have respect for national symbols, State institutions and obedience to social and political hierarchies, with a view to safeguarding the noblest values \u200b\u200bof the Angolan homeland.<\/p>\n

He defended the need for youth to preserve the deeds of the heroes of the 4th of February, for continued social and economic development, as, although in different contexts, young people have the responsibility to continue fighting for common well-being.<\/p>\n

Helena Chimena said it is imperative that the legacy of national heroes be passed on to new generations, who need to know, in depth, the history of Angola, to preserve peace, national unity and social justice.<\/p>\n

According to the vice-governor, recognizing and honoring the courage and bravery of Angolans, as decisive factors in the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, requires the unity of Angolans in thought and action, around the consolidation of peace, national unity and reconciliation, of democracy and development, towards social progress.<\/p>\n

It emphasizes that after 63 years since the beginning of the Armed Struggle, this challenge continues with yesterday’s weapons, carried on plows at the service of the country’s development, with progress in qualified human capital in the fields, in industries, in the commerce sector, in institutions of teaching, among other sectors, where we seek to work more and communicate better, with a view to promoting greater contributory citizenship.<\/p>\n

Representing the students at Cuito Cuanavale University, Manuel Kambinda, considered it necessary for young people to know the history of the country, through continuous real and punctual transmission.<\/p>\n

For the student, the 4th of February 1961 represents an indelible mark in the history of the Angolan people, as it began the process of liberation of Angola, which resulted in the achievement of National Independence in 1975.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that in the early hours of February 4, 1961, a group of women and men, armed with sticks and machetes, invaded the House of Reclusion and the Sa\u0303o Paulo Prison, in Luanda, to free political prisoners, threatened with death, giving beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation.<\/p>\n
