Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than a thousand inhabitants of the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, in the province of Ui\u0301ge, will benefit from drinking water from April this year, with the installation of a water collection, treatment and distribution system, informed the president of the Ui\u0301ge Water and Sanitation Company, Emi\u0301lia Fernandes.<\/b><\/p>\n

With a physical execution of 75 percent, construction of the Maquela do Zombo water system began in 2012, passing to PIIM in 2023. It has a capacity of 200 cubic meters\/hour and a distribution tank of 4 million of liters of water.<\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking during the visit of the provincial governor, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, to the works on the water training systems in the municipalities of Maquela do Zombo and Damba, explained that the project includes the installation of fountains and household connections.<\/p>\n

In turn, governor Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha said that the project is progressing at a good pace, adding that, in the near future, the inhabitants of Maquela do Zombo will benefit, for the first time, from drinking water.<\/p>\n

The municipal administrator of Maquela do Zombo, Samalando Mujinga, explained that the governor’s visit reinforces the appeal to the population about the completion of the works that will benefit a good part of the local’s inhabitants.<\/p>\n

In turn, the former administrator of Maquela do Zombo, Afonso Cuca, praised the initiative, noting that the population of this municipality wakes up at 4 am, traveling long distances in search of water in rivers and reservoirs.<\/p>\n

As for the capture system in the municipality of Damba, with a physical execution of 30% and 80% of material installed, according to the project engineer, Ne\u0301lio Sapitanga, the project includes the construction of a capture system and rehabilitation of a reservoir.<\/p>\n

As for home connection, the project will benefit 1,927 homes and the installation of 11 fountains.<\/p>\n
