Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, appealed, this Saturday, to citizens to raise their sense of citizenship and patriotism in favor of the development of the Nation.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a message of exhortation sent, in reference to the Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, which is celebrated on Sunday, under the motto \u201cFebruary 4, 2024: Preserving the values \u200b\u200bof the Fatherland, let us honor our heroes\u201d, he said that he was It is important that every citizen, regardless of the municipality where they are located, raise their civic sense and patriotism.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the 4th of February is not just a historical milestone, but a tribute to the awakening of Angolan nationalism that culminated in the proclamation of Angola’s Independence, on the 11th of November 1975.<\/p>\n

According to the ruler, this achievement, along with other achievements, such as peace, national reconciliation, the integrity of the country’s soil and democracy, must and deserves to be preserved by all Angolans.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he urged the population to participate enthusiastically in all social, political, cultural, sporting, recreational and other public activities, designed to exalt the values \u200b\u200bof the Fatherland and the selfless example of the heroes of the 4th of February.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the date recalls, from Cabinda to Cunene, the historic dawn of February 4, 1961, when the heroism and bravery of great warriors challenged Portuguese colonial oppression in Luanda, to free their fellow citizens who were imprisoned and in conditions inhumane for contesting the mistreatment and terrible conditions to which they were subjected.<\/p>\n

February 4, 1961 is considered an important milestone in the African struggle against colonialism, in a tradition of resistance against occupation that came from the people of Kassanje, Ndongo and the Central Plateau.<\/p>\n

The events of February 1961 thus translated into a sublime expression of nationalism, demonstrated by Angolans.<\/p>\n
